All About Fin

Incredibly, our little Findley turned 6 months old this week. While I'm a little sad that my cuddly itty bitty baby is already sitting up and becoming more mobile, it's fun to watch as he learns new things every day. Here's some pictures and videos of what he's learned over the past few months.

He's learned a smile still gets him anything he wants

He's learned how to dress like a homie...

...and look like Daddy

He's learned the luxury of relaxing and kickin' back

Ah, yeah....

The arial view of Fin with legs crossed relaxing with Dad

He's learned how to stick his whole hand in his mouth

He's learned that Mom's pillow is his new favorite place

And that reading books with Mommy is actually FUN

And he's learned how to be modest while relaxing in the tub

THE FOLLOWING ARE ALL VIDEOS
He's also learned how to roll over!

And how to support his weight and his legs and bounce a little

He's also started all-out giggling, which is so heartwarming

And, like his father, he knows the value of a good meal. In this video, Dru is in the kitchen making dinner and says, "Dinner is ready" after which Fin smiles hugely

And Fin's finally eating solids! Here's his very first time ever trying rice cereal - he wasn't a huge fan at first, but now he loves it

Baby's First Christmas

We had a lovely first Christmas with Fin. We woke up Christmas morning at my parent's house. Here's our little bug on his first Christmas morning.

He was so excited to start opening presents

He was laughing at Poppy

Ready for stockings...

Check out Fin's smile...."Mom, can we get to the presents?!?"

Opening presents with Poppy

He got his first Loony Tunes movie!...in the words of Sylvester the Cat "Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy!"

All Fin's loot

Dru got me some beautiful crystal pieces for my collection - Fin approves

After stockings, we had my mom's famous cinnamon twists, coffee, and orange juice. Then, Chelsea, Heath, and Callia arrived and we opened some gifts with them.

Dru got a telescope from me - he's so excited to start looking at the stars

Callia, Heath, and Chelsea got Connect Four- Callia wanted to play it all day

We had a great Christmas - hope yours was joyful as well

Findley Family Christmas

Though you wouldn't know it by the date on the post, we celebrated our Findley Family Christmas early, on Dec. 20th, as Julia, Ben and Gretchen were spending Christmas with Ben's family in Portland. We all got together at Mom and Dad's, had a fun time opening gifts, and eating a delicious dinner courtesy of Mom.

Our family -- this was Finny's Christmas outfit

Here it is in close-up; Nana was the one who picked it out for him

Smiling with Dad

Mah Boys

Fin had fun with Poppy - his huge smile is covered up by his sweater vest; funny!

It was impossible to get a good picture of all 3 of the grandkids, but here's the best I got:
Gretchen, Fin and Callia

These pictures were all hilarious - not possible to get everyone looking at the camera - but here's Nana and Poppy with all their grandchildren

Here's the gang opening gifts

Nana and Poppy enjoy watching the mayhem

Callia excitedly displaying the gift we got her - a new game for her Leapster

Fin got a lot of loot, especially from Nana, who spoiled her grandkids this year

Too much action for Finny - he fell fast asleep on my lap. We had a great day!

Our first Christmas Tree!

One of the great things about having our own house is that this year, we got to look for and buy a big ol' beautiful Christmas tree because we finally have a living room big enough to put it in! We took a trip to the Christmas tree lot in Caldwell, which was a fun family outing and, incidentally, Fin's first snowfall!! Two firsts for our little guy.

The hunt is on to find the perfect tree

Hmmm....Fin, what do you think??

How about this one?

Fin: "Yep, that's the one!"

Shelling out the cash

Packing it to the truck

Loading it up (P.S.-- this is our "new to us" pickup that we bought when we got here)

The tree is up! Decorating it with lights

The decorating party!

Fin joins in the fun

Daddy's turn - Fin's learning early

Daddy, watch where you put the star!!

Christmas Tree Festival

This year, Dru and I got to join in on the fun at the annual Boise Christmas Tree Festival, a fun event where local businesses decorate themed trees, which are auctioned off. Some trees are beautiful, some are funny, and some are just plain weird.

Our family, checking out the, you guessed it, snack bar

Heath, Chelsea, Gretchen, and Dad waiting in line with Callia to see the electric train exhibit

Me, Julia, Gretchn, Poppy, and Fin taking in the sights

Fin finally quieted down on Poppy's shoulder - I think he had gone into sensory overload
