Fin's THIRD Week - Already?!?

Nana's here!!!! This has been the most exciting event of Fin's third week - the arrival of his Nana! She arrived safely, albeit a day late due to computer failure on the plane she was on. We are thrilled she is here, and Fin has taken a shine to her, and she to him. Dru and I love having her here - she's been helpful with dinner preparations, laundry, and other domestic chores, and it's nice for me to have another adult here during the day. We've stayed busy with trips to the store, out for ice cream, and outings for walks. We have a beautiful little duck pond at a college campus near our apartment that Dru and I loved to walk around before Fin was born - now it's the perfect place to take a stroll with him, even though he always sleeps through the entire thing!

At the Duck Pond

Fin continues to change and grow every day. He's definately putting on some baby fat, although a majority of it tends to go to his belly instead of his arms or legs. But, he's got one fat roll now on each thigh (!) and a wicked double chin. Here's a shot of him with his hand on his "Buddah Belly."

He also doesn't sleep as tightly curled as he used to, tending to splay out more when he's very relaxed.

He still adores his daddy, and vice versa. Dru has almost gotten Fin to smile at him, as you can see in these pictures. We're waiting for that first "other than gas" smile - hopefully his first smile is for mommy, but I suppose it would be okay if daddy got the first one. :)

Dru also does what he calls "kisses for Daddy" where he comes up with some random number of kisses that Fin "wants" to give him at that time. Fin decided he was done with the kisses after awhile and grabbed Dru's lip - it was hilarious!

He also likes cuddle time and awake time with mommy. Here's a picture of him in a new onesie that says "Mommy and Me". One of the jr high girls that was in our small group this spring got Fin a whole bunch of new newborn onesies, which we were so grateful for. Also, our friend Jamie showed up at our place with two new newborn outfits, after hearing about our plight with too-big clothes. Thanks, Dinah and Jamie!

We went to a BBQ at our friends, the Salisbury's, this week. Their cat, Shelby, did NOT know quite what to make of Fin. She approached his carseat very warily - it was funny. She finally decided to tolerate him and laid down near his carseat while he took a nap in the living room.

I also grabbed a few videos of Fin this week. In this first one, you have to watch the entire thing but he "smiles" at the end! I also love his eyebrow work in this....

In this other one, Fin was supposed to be taking a nap, but he decided it would be more fun to talk to himself and holler every once in awhile. The little stinker!

Random pictures of Fin...
In his outfit from our friend, Jamie

Sometimes after the early morning feeding, I bring Fin into bed with me. He LOVES it and here he is, sound asleep in our bed.

Sound asleep on Daddy's legs...

In his "Snugglesaurus" outfit from Dinah - we all thought this was particularly funny because Dru and I are in the habit of adding a "saurus" to the ends of the names of people we like to tease. There were several jr high kids in the small group we led that we called, for instance, Sethasaurus, Lukeasaurus, etc. Now we have our own snugglesaurus!
